"Would you hold on a minute?"
"I'd rather not--" The sudden silence at the other end said he had no choice. He'd had no choice when Rachel had moved out six years ago either.
What is that tripe?
I suffered through though. I must have some kind of undiagnosed compulsion in which I have to finish books that I start, no matter how bad they are.
To be fair, the book did get better. It was a little far fetched (in that way in which most romance novels are) and there were some gratuitous sexual references.
Here's a summary of the book, in a nutshell:
A divorced mom of two teenage girls is in a car wreck and lapses into a coma. Her best friend contacts the ex-husband and he comes to take care of his girls. For the first time in his life, he puts his family ahead of his career (which is what the divorce was all about anyway) and learns more about his ex-wife's feelings toward him through her friends who visit her at the hospital. They end up reconciling, yada yada yada.
